Portland cement clinker is a hydraulic material prepared by calcining (sintering) a precisely defined mixture of raw materials containing CaO, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, and small amounts of other substances. It consists of at least two-thirds by mass of calcium silicates (3CaO·SiO₂ and 2CaO·SiO₂), with the remainder made up of clinker phases containing aluminum and iron, as well as other compounds. It is the main raw material of cement production.

It enables cement to form a setting and hardening mortar through hydration reactions when mixed with water, maintaining its strength and stability even underwater after hardening.
